The Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle, the awkwardly named latest Humble Indie Bundle, just got a little bit better. The already solid — and quite affordable — bundle just added indie hit Trauma in for free. Like many of the other HIB games, Trauma is critically acclaimed (an IGF finalist) and isn’t particularly old either, having hit Steam in August 2011.
Trauma is a point-and-click adventure created by Krystian Majewski, where you play as a woman who has just woken up after having a car accident. It’s a dreamy, visually interesting game that’s very much focused on the player experience. It currently sells for $6.99 on Steam. (The trailer is available below.)
The Frozen Synapse Bundle also includes Frozen Byte’s turn-based tactical game Frozen Synapse, Trine, ShadowGrounds: Survivor, ShadowGrounds, Splot, and Jack Claw. Contributions to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Child’s Play, and the Bundle’s organizers are an option as well.
To get the full package you need to bid above the average price of the Bundle, which is a pay-what-you-want deal. Right now the price to beat is $4.59, but that’s been fluctuating throughout the day and, on the whole, has been rising (two days ago it was $3.91).
Currently over 111,000 sales of the bundle have been made, which means a lot more playing Frozen Synapse. This is a game that I’ve been excited about for some time and have already purchased. I paid full price, $25 for two licenses, so I’m feeling a bit burned (not the first time that’s happened with downloadable games) but the Frozen Synapse Bundle is still an excellent deal. Rather than paying that $25 for one game you can get much more value for a fraction of the price… not that you should be cheap when supporting these fine charities and developers.
The Bundle has almost exactly 12 days left, so you can buy now but it you are on the fence you should set your calender. Check back as it’s about to end because there is a very good chance that more games will be added, at least if previous Humble Bundles are any indicator.
