Capcom managed to successfully reinvigorate the Street Fighter franchise in 2009 with the launch of Street Fighter IV and subsequent updates. But the series has a very long history, and to celebrate the 25th Anniversary Capcom has decided to release a highly desirable collection.
The Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector’s Set will include an 8-inch light-up statue of Ryu, a 64-page hardback art book, a replica of Ryu’s belt, and a certificate proving your set is authentic. However, it’s the disc content that really makes this set worthwhile, and there’s 15 discs packed full of Street Fighter material.
11 of those discs will be bursting with audio including music from the original Street Fighter right through to Street Fighter X Tekken. There’s even a disc full of fan remixes and fan originals.
Two of the remaining discs are Blu-ray and include a new documentary focusing on the fans and the history of the games. There’s all the Street Fighter IV and Super SFIV anime movies, the complete Street Fighter animated series, and Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie.
The final two discs are for the games, which include Street Fighter X Tekken, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Super Street Fighter II Turbo Remix, and Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition. For both SFXT and SFIVAE you also get all the costume DLC and character packs.
That’s a lot of content, so the asking price of $149.99 isn’t too surprising. The only choice you need to make is whether you want it on Xbox 360 or PS3. After that it’s just a case of pre-ordering it from the Capcom Store if you are in the US, and then waiting for the September 18 release date.
It’s unclear if this collection will be heading to Europe.
